Great honour for Lincolnshire Futsal
Written by Rob Allenby
Thursday, 20 November 2008
The Lindsey School & Community Arts U16 Futsal team have been invited to a prestigious international Futsal event in December, confirming their place as the best school for Futsal in Lincolnshire.
The team were invited by Dermot Collins, Head of Small Sides Football at The FA, after hearing rave reviews about the teams performance over the last couple of years. The boys finished runners up in the last two FA National Futsal Finals at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.
The team will be playing in an exhibition match at Loughborough University, on a full size international pitch at their world class facilities.
The match will be sandwiched between two full international matches, which are Libya vs Lithuania and England vs Republic of Ireland. The TLS team will have an opportunity to watch the England international after their own match has been completed.
There is guaranteed to be a large crowd in attendance to watch the home nation, so the boys from TLS will get an opportunity to play in front of a receptive audience.
Director of Football Rob Allenby was delighted by the news; ‘This is just deserts for the effort the school has put into small sided football over the last few years. At TLS, pupils have the opportunity to play Futsal, and we get experienced coaches from the local area to help us improve. This is a real shot in the arm for sport at the Lindsey School and Community Arts College.’
Football Performance Director Les Jones was equally happy; ‘This is a real test of nerve for the team, but one they should relish. Opportunities do not come along every day to play before an international match, so we will hopefully put on a good show and make the people of Grimsby proud. At the end of the day this is great news for TLS Sport.’
Novartis Update - Play a friendly if your team has no game
Written by Kevin Bryant
Sunday, 16 November 2008
The League is expanding into the new futsal specific venue at Novartis; currently I have Monday/Tuesday not fully used; if your team has a free week and wants a friendly game let me know. Better if you know a new team that might not be aware of the demands of futsal, and would like to give the game a try lets get a date in the diary.
If you have any ideas that might work please pass your thoughts on; a lads and dads night has been suggested, my own idea is for a ladder league. For those that don't know a ladder league plays continuously with a monthly champion, teams progress up the ladder by challenging teams ahead of them, teams must play 3/4 games in each month to qualify as Champions. League might better be called a snakes and ladder league. Ideas please

Super Tuesday - The Outcome
Written by Kevin Bryant
Sunday, 16 November 2008
Will the congestion at the top of Kent St League be cleared after the nights results are known was the question.
League IV champions AFC Snoop play current League V leader Willows Chinese. 4th placed AFC are 3 points behind; making it a 6 pointer for both teams.
Snoop rise to their Champions challenge 9-4.
Spiders Web are 2nd but only on goal difference, 3rd placed Eindhoven are on same points but 2 games more. Both teams have to win for differing reasons, the pressure is on.
Spiders Web raised their game a level 10-5. Lead table by 3 points followed by 3 teams on 21 points.
Le osterals are on the fringe of things, waiting for mistakes from others. They have stragglers Humberstone in game they cannot afford to be complacent in, Humberstone are in the position Willows was in 2 seasons ago, getting 'futsal' lessons from more experienced opposition.
Humberstone raised their game by some distance if my reading of the score is correct 9-6. The Osterals I saw last week was a very competent team, for Humberstone to get their first win in 10 against them is a shock result.
Second Avenue is not to be beaten on matches, 6 of the top 7 play each other!
We could see StreetSoccer off the top after appearing to own the position. If they lose to Whakker, if Littlefields beat Magpies II. If those 2 games are not enough ElDogoes (7th and not out of it with games in hand) play 3rd place Auditorium who are back in form.
StreetSoccer see of Whakker challenge 8-5; Littlefields keep pressure on Streetsoccer beating Magpies 7-5; El Dogoes dent Auditorium hopes and leave door open for their own charge 4-2.
To make the night bottom placed newcomers Paragon and Mariners are head to head with a wooden spoon head to head. Great for both team as they spoils scoring 1 goal a piece.

First test game of futsal played at Novartis
Written by Kevin Bryant
Wednesday, 12 November 2008
Young's Seafood's (Premier League) played Osterals (Kent St Tuesday League); Osterals nicking the game 11-9. The pitch is similar in size to Kent Street, but with a large 2 meter safety run off zone. The playing surface is excellent, only down side was the cold easterly wind; which I am sure players did not notice.
For the record books Rob Phillips came off the bench for a cameo 5 minutes during which Young's went from 8-9 to 10-9, Rob even scoring a headed gaol.

Second Avenue - BPS Couriers open Premier League title race, StreetSoccer unassailable Tuesday?
Written by Kevin Bryant
Thursday, 06 November 2008
BPS Couriers (formerly Harvest FC) take 7 points out of 8; from
3 very tight games. Back to back game
against Grimsby All Blacks ended 3-3 & 1-0, the draw was snatched by All
Blacks with the last deflected touch of the game; the win was a case of snatch
a goal and cling on. 5-4 against Fulstow
Rovers was a great result for the league as it opens the challenge for
Littlefields, Catalonia, Harvest and long shot outsiders Shamrock if they can
put a run together.
The tightness of the league was illustrated by Shamrock 6 Littlefield
2; Young’s Seafood’s 4 All Blacks 5; College 2001 3 Gunners Watch 4.
Tuesday results not in, but even without them the league is
looking a StreetSoccer stroll, the battle is for 2nd place; anyone
of 6 teams can get there. One team to
watch ‘Whakker’ 5 games behind, if they could take maximum points StreetSoccer
have to sweat, they have the players to do it.
Wednesday teams had a night off; the Resource Centre becomes
San Sire on bonfire night. Tables can be
confusing, Inter are clearly top; that changes if you sort the table by loses
Hemswell becomes the form team, sort by draws and Harvest Works are top with 3
in 7 games, goal difference puts Futsal Legends on top; goals against and most
losses is uncomfortably with Grimsby Saxons.
New teams suffering defeats take note that
several of the teams that are at the top have experienced the pains of getting to
grips with futsal; put 2 even teams against each other and I will bet the one
with futsal experience will win.

The Maracanazinho
The Gilberto Cardoso Sports Hall, better known as the
Maracanãzinho (Little Maracana), is a modern
12,600-capacity indoor sports arena in the north of Rio de Janeiro,
close to the mythical Maracana stadium itself.
Building work was started in April 1954 and the venue was
officially opened five months later with the hosting of the Second
World Basketball Championships. And though Brazil lost in the final
of that year's event to the USA, the host nation made no
mistake at the same arena in 1963, defeating the former Yugoslavia
in the decider to take their second world crown.
Named after a former president of
Carioca club Flamengo, this arena was renovated ahead of
the Pan-American Games Rio de Janeiro 2007, when it played host to
the men's and women's volleyball competitions.

Every effort is being given to accomodate teams with prefered match times; its easy to see this is not always possible when a 6KO team plays a 8KO team. In future if there is a conflict of interest the HOME team will have preference.
